Domestic Violence Awareness Month - Can You "Phone It Forward?"

Updated: Oct 6, 2022

October is commonly viewed as the start of fall, a beautiful time of year; but it's also a time to take action. October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, a time to connect and unite individuals and organizations working on domestic violence issues while raising awareness.

At the 911 Cell Phone Bank, we’re taking action. The cell phones we collect and recycle are used to support our mission: to provide no-cost emergency contact to victims of abuse. The "PHONE IT FORWARD" campaign was created by the 911 Cell Phone Bank as a charitable event that allows individuals, businesses, and organizations the opportunity to pay it forward by donating

unused electronic devices to help victims in their community.

Each day in the United States, over 20,000 calls are placed to domestic violence hotlines by individuals reporting incidents.

You can see from this statistic that emergency contact devices are essential in saving these victims.

Donating cell phones and other electronic devices that are no longer being used or that have been left behind in lost-and-found shows the world that simple acts of charity can alleviate the effects of domestic violence, human trafficking, and elder abuse.
